CerroAlto Digital: AI-Powered Insights from SAP MM with Palantir CerroAlto Digital, a specialized component manufacturer, recognized limitations in their traditional SAP Materials Management (MM) reporting, which lacked predictive capabilities and broader cross-functional context. Their strategic goal became leveraging AI to enhance materials management intelligence and overall supply chain visibility. Consequently, the decision was made to implement Palantir Foundry, integrating it directly with their core SAP MM system to unlock deeper insights from their existing data. The project commenced by establishing secure, reliable connectivity between Palantir Foundry and the SAP environment. Palantir's specialized connectors were configured to methodically extract essential MM data sets, including material master records, purchase orders (POs), goods receipts (GRs), and related invoice information. This extracted data was then securely streamed into Foundry’s dedicated ingestion layer, preparing it for subsequent processing and analysis within the platform. Within Foundry, initial data pipelines were constructed using Spark SQL to perform necessary cleansing and standardization on the raw SAP data. A pivotal phase involved mapping the often-complex SAP table structures (like MARA, MARC, EKKO, EKPO) onto Foundry's semantic Ontology layer. This created intuitive business objects such as "Material," "Supplier," "Purchase Order," and "Inventory Level," making the underlying data readily accessible and understandable for business users and analysts alike. To enrich the analysis, CerroAlto integrated the SAP MM data with external sources, including supplier risk feeds and real-time logistics data. This unified dataset became the foundation for training sophisticated AI/ML models within Foundry. Key focus areas for these models included predicting potential stockouts based on historical usage patterns and supplier lead times, alongside assessing supplier delivery reliability and identifying potential disruption risks across the supply chain. Finally, custom Workshop applications were developed to present these AI-driven insights through intuitive visual interfaces. Procurement managers gained access to dynamic reports forecasting potential material shortages weeks ahead, enabling proactive planning. Furthermore, supplier risk scores are now automatically updated within the system, triggering automated workflows for risk mitigation, ultimately transforming static SAP MM data into actionable, predictive intelligence and enhancing CerroAlto's supply chain resilience and inventory optimization.
